SpartanNash Company is a prominent distributor and retailer of grocery products, structured into three primary segments: Food Distribution, Military, and Retail. The Food Distribution segment provides approximately 65,000 stock-keeping units, including a wide range of products such as dry groceries, produce, dairy, meat, delicatessen items, bakery goods, frozen food, seafood, floral products, general merchandise, beverages, tobacco products, health and beauty care, and pharmacy products. This includes 160 commissaries and around 400 exchanges across 39 states in the U.S., as well as international locations such as Europe, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Honduras, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and Djibouti. This segment is essential in supporting military personnel and their families with necessary grocery supplies, ensuring their needs are met both domestically and overseas.
In the Retail segment, SpartanNash operates 145 corporate-owned retail stores and 36 fuel centers under several well-known banners, including Family Fare, Martin's Super Markets, D&W Fresh Market, VG's Grocery, and Dan's Supermarket. Additionally, the company markets and distributes private brand items primarily under the Our Family brand name. Founded in 1917 and originally known as Spartan Stores, Inc., the company rebranded to SpartanNash Company in November 2013. Headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, SpartanNash has a long history of growth and service in the grocery industry.
